About the Koinonia Basketball League

The Koinonia Basketball League (formerly known as the YMBL) was developed as a component of Koinonia Ministries to provide a structured outlet for participants to appropriately express their God-given talents with other like-minded individuals. Basketball is then used as a tool to communicate the Gospel to deal with and overcome issues that plague the body of Christ; issues such as: pride, fear, self-esteem, violence, etc.

There are currently 18 Philadelphia area Churches and Ministries that participate in either our youth or men's leagues. To participate in the league, each player has to be a good standing member of the Church that their team is representing.

 

Prior to each game, a player from both teams is chosen to recite and interpret their team's assigned scripture. Prayer, organized fellowships, and team Bible studies are just some of the additional focus areas that make the Koinonia Basketball League an exciting place to play!
